What we are reading in November, 2021
By: Camille Truong, Matthew E. Smith, and Marcos Caiafa
This month in what we are reading, Camille Truong interviews Marcos Caiafa (postdoc at the University of California, Riverside) and his former PhD advisor Matt Smith (University of Florida), who chased birds in Patagonian forests to study their diet and demonstrate that they consume and disperse ECM fungi.
Their recent article “Discovering the role of Patagonian birds in the dispersal of truffles and other mycorrhizal fungi” can be found here: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.2021.10.024
A must-read study about these important processes!
