What we are reading in August, 2020

By: Camille Truong and Vasilis Kokkoris

Did you know that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi can move nuclei inside and outside their spores? That they sometimes digest nuclei presumably as a nutrient source? Or that hyphae are either homo or dikaryotic?
If you want to know more about it, check out this awesome interview that Camille Truong conducted with Vasilis Kokkoris, a postdoc at the University of Otawa and the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, including beautiful photographs of his research on the nuclear dynamics of AM fungi.

His recent review paper “Nuclear Dynamics in the Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi” published in Trends in Plant Science can be found here: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tplants.2020.05.002
